Disabled Member Discounts

The HTML Writers Guild and IWA is pleased to offer disabled members a discount on our membership fee. The regular membership fee is $49 and the membership fee for disabled people is $35 (US$). This discount applies only to Individual, and is intended for members who are unable to work and earn a living wage due to physical (or other) disability.

Proof of Disability Status

Acceptable Documentation for Individual Memberships

The following is considered acceptable proof of disabled status:

• A letter from your physician or other health care professional.
• Other official documents that clearly state your status as permanently disabled.

Examples:

• An award letter from the VA, Social Security, or other benefit organization initializing your benefits for full and permanent disability (clearly indicated in the letter/form), will be accepted.
• A copy of a state or other agency disability payment stub is not acceptable, unless it indicates full and permanent disability status.

The key is "full and permanent". We intend this for individuals who cannot earn a living wage because of their situation, which is permanent or unlikely to change. This is not appropriate for someone undergoing career counseling or retraining due to an injury that prevents them from working in a single occupation or job category.

Documentation must accompany application or it will be returned uncompleted.
